Do you need a short break? Are you the Primary or Family Carer and going on holiday, or just need to be away for a brief period? A short break Respite Live in Care or Holiday Care package with us allows you to be away from home in the knowledge that your loved one is cared for just as you would wish it.
A respite live in care package is a really good alternative to residential respite care and allows people to remain in the comfort of their own home. Our living-in respite care package also offers an experience of our agency’s services for those who might be considering live in care at home in the future.
Our tailored, person-centred, live in respite care service provides peace of mind when you or your loved ones need to take a break.
This may be anything from two weeks up to a much longer period. We are well equipped to help you fill in the gaps.
Our trained and accredited live in carers will be in your loved one’s home so that you, as a primary carer, can take a much needed break.
This continuity of care is good for the client who can enjoy stability and companionship in familiar surroundings, and you relax safe in the knowledge that your loved one has the support that they need.
Emergency Respite Care
Here at Select Carers, we understand that you may need a Respite carer at short notice. Please call us immediately on: 0800 955 8845 and we will assist you in getting a live in respite carer as soon as possible throughout the South of the UK.
Meeting individual needs
Our aim is to provide seamless continuity of care and our well-trained and qualified staff work hard to ensure that everyone’s personal desires and preferences are respected. Prior to the care delivery, one of our trained Assessors will arrange to carry out an assessment of care needs.
Accommodation for the companion
During the respite care period the live in carer will need a bedroom of their own and use of the bathroom. They will need their meals and so we usually suggest a set amount of money for this. Their food can of course be prepared at the same time as the client’s.
Stephen communicated through his voice box, which he had been using for some time. This provided a good learning curve for our carer companion who patiently learned to work at his pace; empathically listening as they exchanged minute by minute throughout the day. One of the great joys of caring is the myriad of conditions that we are presented with across a wide spectrum. It is such a joy to work with each and every individual whom we work with; each in a unique way according to their specific needs.
Referral for care
Social services referred Stephen for our Respite Care services and funded them. This developed for some time into a live in care package at a poignant time in their lives. Stephen’s wife, Maria was finding it near on impossible to facilitate the care needed by her husband; she was tired from the demanding job of total care; medication, 24 hour companionship, personal care, medication administration as well as dealing with food and drink and emptying the catheter. Stephen was wheel chair bound and needed a lot of one on one care, which our trained respite live in care companion was well prepared for.
Working towards independence
In time Stephen’s wife felt rested and repaired and was more able to take over the care again and so 247 Live in Care was employed to step in whenever she needed a well-deserved break. This flexibility of care is important to us at 247 Live in Care; we pride ourselves on enabling independence as much as is possible
